NEW YORK, NY (January 8, 2019) Group Nine Studios today announced a new comedy series, “Cruisers and Shakers,” featuring Ed Begley, Jr. (Better Call Saul; Arrested Development; Portlandia) and Broadway’s “Waitress” star, Adam Shapiro (Sense8; The Affair). The five-episode series, created by David Lascher and Todd Camhe, will run on Thrillist’s Facebook Watch page and focuses on the perfect marriage of two of the most fascinating, talked about phenomenons in our zeitgeist -- Millennials and gig economy rideshare drivers.
“Cruisers and Shakers” is “Taxi” meets “Workaholics.” Just as “Taxi” was a show about dreamers, chasing their passions against a backdrop of New York City, “Cruisers and Shakers” captures that spirit for a new generation in the city of L.A. Our four best friends, just a few years out of college, are also dreamers, but with an edge and drive unique to the time.
After their four cushy years at UCLA, they’re pursuing their dreams: an actor, a fashion designer, an app developer and a good old-fashioned career slacker. Each episode will explore the balance between driving, chasing their dreams, and dealing with the interpersonal relationships of this close group of friends.
