NEW YORK, NY – (April 20, 2021) – Thrillist, the #1 food, drink and travel brand for Gen Z and Millennials [source: Comscore Media Matrix & Plan Metrix, Q3 2020] crowns winners for their second annual fast food awards celebration, The Fasties. The program was created in 2020 to unabashedly celebrate the world of fast food with a new additional focus this year on excellence in fast casual. The glitzy, award show-style event was a showcase of the fast food industry’s important contributions to the culinary world in a hilariously over-the-top — yet completely serious — celebration of fast food.

In 2021, The Fasties, hosted by David So and Tim Changstarantsu of Thrillist’s Send Foodz, is a cross country roadtrip with the guys tasting their way through chains to identify the Chain of the Year. The virtual celebration highlights the greatest foods we ate out of grease-stained paper bags throughout the year and honors the people working on the front lines behind drive-thru windows every day across the country. New categories such as “Best Value Menu,” and “Best First Responder Deal” reflect today’s heightened appreciation for quick, convenient, and accessible food you can get with, say, the crumpled five-dollar bill in your pocket. Celebrity guest Big Freedia joins the party to take a bite out of Popeyes’ best.

“Thrillist has a long history of covering fast food, and our passionate editorial team brings true expertise to this category. As a brand who takes fun seriously, what better way to offer a moment of levity during this time than bringing back our over-the-top celebration of America’s most beloved convenient cuisine.” said Meghan Kirsch, Chief Content Officer at Thrillist. “This year, we have broadened our scope to acknowledge the chains that have really gone above and beyond to serve those on the frontline. Our program looks to give them the proper recognition and shiny gold burger trophies they deserve.”
