NEW YORK, NY (September 15, 2017) - NowThis today announced the launch of a new Twitter channel specifically designated to breaking news. The channel will bring audiences immediate coverage of breaking events and offer real time fact-checks to help people stay better informed.
“Breaking news coverage is often filled with misinformation due to outlets publishing before confirming all of the facts,” said NowThis President Athan Stephanopoulos. “The goal of @newsroom is simple: to explore major news stories as they happen and help sort out fact from fiction through social reporting.”
The launch of @newsroom is the manifestation of NowThis’ efforts to expand its breaking news coverage, which is being led by Andy Carvin and Kim Bui, who joined NowThis earlier this year after shuttering Reported.ly at First Look Media.
