NEW YORK, NY (September 22, 2017) – NowThis and Harness, an organization dedicated to building community and inspiring action through conversations that deepen and inform popular narratives around social justice issues, announced their video partnership today.

“NowThis is at the forefront of amplifying authentic and grassroots stories in the most innovative, relevant and effective ways. Harness couldn’t ask for a better partner in uplifting the voices of frontline leaders working for social justice,” said Harness Co-Founder America Ferrera.

“At our core, NowThis is committed to informing and inspiring young people about the issues that matter most to them,” said NowThis President Athan Stephanopoulos.  “We couldn’t be more thrilled to advance that mission than with our partnership with Harness -- an organization founded by millennial leaders who are sparking real conversations and elevating the voices of activists on the front line.”

To kick off the partnership, NowThis will be the exclusive livestream media partner for Harness’ largest marquee gathering, A Mainstage Event this weekend in Los Angeles, presented in partnership with NeueHouse. The event, titled “The Way Forward,” will convene local and national leaders working to protect and empower their communities for an afternoon of conversation, art and action. NowThis will live-stream the event on Saturday, September 23, 2017 from 12:30pm - 4:00pm PDT on the NowThis Facebook channel of 12MM followers, which is largely comprised of highly engaged and cause-oriented young people.

Some of the community leaders speaking at “The Way Forward" include Valarie Kaur (Founder of Revolutionary Love Project), Cesar Vargas (New York's first openly undocumented lawyer), Janaya Khan (Co-Founder, Black Lives Matter - Canada), Susan Burton (Founder of A New Way of Life, a re-entry project for formerly incarcerated women), Natalie Weaver (healthcare activist and Co-Founder of Advocates for Medically Fragile Kids NC), Sally Kohn (political commentator for CNN), and Matt McGorry (Activist and Actor, Orange is the New Black, How to Get Away with Murder).

Later this year, NowThis and Harness will team up to create a co-branded social video series that will pair well-known celebrities and influencers with leading activists for thought provoking conversations about the challenges and opportunities facing our communities today. Harness co-founder and actress, America Ferrera will be one of the many celebrities to participate in the new video series.
