NEW YORK (February 11, 2019) – Group Nine’s JASH, in partnership with NowThis, the number one mobile news publisher in the world, announced today that it is producing a new, unscripted pilot, The Untitled Maz Jobrani Project(wt) for truTV. JASH, now part of Group Nine Studios, was acquired in 2017.
The half-hour variety series The Untitled Maz Jobrani Project (wt) stars comedian Maz Jobrani (Maz Jobrani: Immigrant), who uses stand up, scripted sketches, interviews and hidden camera to mine comedy from the absurd lengths people will go to “fit in.” The concept originates from Jobrani’s personal experiences, having been born in Iran and grown up in the U.S., and explores all the different ways people can feel stuck between two worlds. Co-created by Jobrani and Jon Beckerman and featuring a troupe of diverse writers and performers, the pilot is being produced by JASH in partnership with NowThiswith Jobrani, Beckerman, Daniel Kellison, Max Broude, Miriam Mintz and Ray Moheet serving as executive producers.
