NEW YORK, NY (June 11, 2018) -- “Hamilton” star Javier Muñoz has joined NowThis -- the no. 1 news brand in the world on social -- as guest editor for LGBTQ+ coverage in June for Pride month. The partnership was announced today via a video in which Muñoz explained Pride and what it means to be a member of the LGBTQ+ community at this moment in time. “Pride is about more than just the parades and the parties, it's about celebrating the amazing strides the LGBTQ+ community has made,” said Muñoz. “We remember how we got here, and how far we still have to go.”
As guest editor, Muñoz will host “Legendary,” an interview series profiling individuals who are making an impact in the LGBTQ+ community. He’ll also contribute to the development of content surrounding LGBTQ+ issues including workplace discrimination and legal services, aging/elders in the queer community, criminal justice for trans women, homeless LGBTQ+ youth, and more. “We want to elevate the voices that are too often left out of the discussion and remind everyone that none of us are equal until we are all equal,” said Muñoz.
“NowThis has been dedicated to covering LGBTQ+ issues from the very beginning, and we’re excited at this opportunity to collaborate with Javier to help enhance the breadth and reach of our coverage,” said Sarah Frank, Editor of NowThis.
The social-first content will be published across NowThis’ Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat. Muñoz will also take over NowThis’ Instagram Stories during the NYC Pride March on June 24, 2018.
