NEW YORK – April 3, 2020 – BYUtv, a family entertainment network available over cable, satellite and streaming, and The Dodo, the most-engaged with media brand on mobile and no. 1 media brand for reach on mobile in the U.S., today announced the premiere of the new series “The Wizard of Paws.” The ten-episode series follows animal prosthetist Derrick Campana as he travels the country in pursuit of animals in desperate need of his services. “The Wizard of Paws” premieres on BYUtv on Wednesday, April 8 at 9:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. MT/6:00 p.m. PT.
Hyundai, who shares a similar foundation with The Dodo of “making things better,” will exclusively sponsor “The Wizard of Paws” with its all-new, three-row SUV Palisade providing the transportation for Derrick as he assists animals in need. This integration is one part of the auto brand’s larger campaign with The Dodo.
“The Wizard of Paws” profiles Derrick Campana as he continues his longstanding mission of charitably dedicating his time to crafting custom prosthetics for animals of all sizes from elephants to rabbits. Derrick will assist a loving dwarf pony who is unable to stand for longer than a few minutes, a bubbly golden retriever who struggles to walk because of her deformed back paws, a sensitive two-year-old potbelly pig who has a connective tissue disorder that affects all four of his legs and many more heartwarming animals.
“The Dodo is the ideal partner in creating such an emotional, inspiring series that puts animals front and center while creating a viewing experience that can be appreciated by all ages,” said Michael Dunn, BYUtv Managing Director. “The Dodo has created such a beautiful rapport with Derrick Campana, which has allowed us to capture his commitment to and noble mission of offering struggling animals a new lease on life. We can’t wait for family co-viewing audiences to be as inspired by him and this series as we are.”
“We believe that the incredibly uplifting stories we capture deeply resonate with viewers across platforms and formats, so we’re delighted BYUtv decided to pick up our second linear TV series, ‘The Wizard of Paws,’” said Matt Pickar, Executive Producer of Originals for The Dodo. “Our overall mission is to continue elevating animals’ unspoken stories to audiences everywhere.”
